To prison officials who know him, Brad Hompe is considered a reliable expert when it comes to evaluating and quite possibly improving prison and jail operations. That expertise comes about as a result of his experience in all aspects of corrections. He has engaged in jail and prison planning and design, of course, and he has played a key role in policy development, including developing policies regarding the use of force. He has been a prison staff employee, of course, as well as a jail inspector, an instructor and trainer. However, that is only the tip of his experience. During his time with WI-DOC, Brad Hompe has done just about everything because he worked his way up the ranks. At one point, he served as a prison warden, but leading up to that he worked his way up the ladder. Brad Hompe starting out as a corrections officer, soon becoming a Sergeant, then a Lieutenant and a Captain, before he became a unit manager and deputy warden, all on his way to becoming warden.

Nowadays, Brad Hompe serves the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (WI-DOC) as a Corrections Complaint Examiner and Investigator. And he got to that point based on his high level of experience and his expertise in every aspect of the corrections industry. Lots of corrections experience for Brad Hompe

With several decades of work in the corrections field, Brad Hompe has worked in increasingly challenging roles since beginning his dedicated career in the industry -- the only career he has immersed himself within in his adult life. This professional currently works with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (WI-DOC) as a Corrections Complaints Examiner/Investigator. However, long before this role, he began at the bottom of the totem pole. His work has allowed him to move up gradually to one of the leading experts in Wisconsin whose wisdom is often sought for training events and speaking engagements. He also has provided consultation nationally at other jail and prison systems.

Brad Hompe has worked with the WI-DOC since 1995 in a variety of roles -- roles that followed police and firefighting work as well, demonstrating a strong commitment to public service. His WI-DOC positions have been within compliance as a Detention Facilities Specialist, also known as a Jail Inspector; within executive leadership as a Warden and Deputy Warden; and within management in roles such as Unit Manager, Captain, Lieutenant, Corrections Officer and Sergeant. His positions took on additional responsibilities and also reflected more rank within the department in his 20+ years within corrections.
